Obviously, using Workout Writer is the easiest way to get a structured running or cycling workout on your Apple Watch or into Garmin Connect from iPhone. But if you are using Android, another watch platform, or you just want to build the session yourself, you can use the shared workout text as a simple recipe for creating the same structured workout manually.
If you are using Workout Writer on iPhone, the easiest option is still to open the shared workout in Workout Writer and send it straight to Apple Watch.
To create the workout manually, use the Workout app on Apple Watch. Choose the workout type, open the custom workout options, then add warmup, work, recovery, repeat, and cooldown steps.
If you are using Workout Writer on iPhone, the easiest option is to send the session to Garmin Connect directly from Workout Writer.
For Android users, or if you want to build the session yourself, open Garmin Connect, go to Training & Planning, then Workouts, and create a new workout for the relevant activity type. After saving it, send the workout to your compatible Garmin device.
In the COROS app, open Profile, then Workout Library, and create a new workout. COROS lets you add warmups, training steps, rests, cooldowns, and intervals, then sync the workout to your watch.
In the Suunto app, create a structured workout, choose the activity type, then add phases such as warm-up, interval, recover, and cooldown. Suunto syncs structured workouts to compatible watches as SuuntoPlus Guides.
Amazfit support depends on the watch model and the workout type you are using. In the Zepp app, look for workout, interval training, or training template options for your device, then recreate the shared workout by adding each warmup, repeat, recovery, and cooldown step manually before syncing it to your watch.
In Polar Flow, create a training target. For interval-style sessions, use a phased training target so you can add separate warm-up, work, recovery, and cooldown phases before syncing to your Polar device.
Huawei support varies by watch model and workout mode. Some Huawei watches support interval training from the workout settings for running and cycling, while Huawei Health also offers running plans that sync to compatible wearable devices.
Fitbit support depends on the device. For custom run workouts, Google's Fitbit help describes building outdoor run workouts with warmups, run intervals, rest intervals, repeats, pace targets, and heart rate targets on supported devices.
Google Pixel Watch 3 and 4 can build custom outdoor run workouts in the Fitbit app or directly on the watch. Use the shared Workout Writer text as the outline, then add warmup, run, rest, repeat, and cooldown segments in the Fitbit Exercise app.
Samsung Galaxy Watch support depends on your watch model, Samsung Health version, and workout type. If your version of Samsung Health offers routines or interval-style options, use the shared Workout Writer text as your step list.
Wahoo's ELEMNT RIVAL watch supports planned workouts through TrainingPeaks, and Wahoo's current planned-workout docs also cover structured workouts in the Wahoo app and on ELEMNT devices. If you use a Wahoo watch or device, recreate the shared Workout Writer session in a supported planned-workout provider, then sync it through the Wahoo or ELEMNT app.
